Once you have successfully completed the Feldenkrais for Riders Basic Course, you can build on that knowledge through the Feldenkrais for Riders Advanced Course.

This course significantly deepens your understanding and tools beyond the seven blind spots most riders struggle with and can’t seem to resolve. It leverages from the Basic Course and helps you take your riding to a further enhanced level of confidence, performance, and comfort.

How to Ride Comfortably Forever

How to Ride Comfortably Forever covers six important concepts and their practical applications to enable you to ride comfortably.

Each lesson includes a:

  • Video explaining the concept
  • Practical interactive anatomy review that supports the concept
  • One-hour, off-the-horse Awareness Through Movement Lesson that provides a complete understanding of how the specific concept applies to your unique movement habits
  • Ten-minute mounted practice movement session that reinforces the lesson and tests what you learned.
  • Access to the community feature so you can share your experiences and ask questions with Catherine and other students in the class

The Awareness Through Movement Lessons include gentle, small, slow movements that target the motor control areas of your brain. This allows a rewiring of old movement habits that no longer serve you well and sometimes interfere with your ability to ride comfortably and well. Each session has a mounted exercise that accompanies it so you can get rider feedback right away.

This class can be completed at your own pace to maximize the value to you—but you are not alone. You have access to Catherine and the other students in the class for any additional information you need. How to Ride Comfortably Forever is the first in a series of gradually more complex courses that are specifically tailored to your needs and objectives.

Weekly Online Feldenkrais Classes

The Weekly Online Feldenkrais Classes include one live online Feldenkrais Awareness Class every week that is designed to rewire your brain for easier movement and help you feel younger and more flexible.

Each lesson begins with a mini practical anatomy demonstration that is directly related to the lesson, as well as the opportunity to discuss your specific challenges and ask questions.

The format of these Awareness Through Movement Lessons ensures that each session is tailored to your unique movement patterns and challenges. This weekly series helps you eliminate your pain, increase your flexibility, and enhance your balance through gentle slow, mindful movements.

Each lesson provides you with a better working knowledge of how you move. It gives you a new, practical, functional skill that you can apply to your daily movements.

Two-Week Challenge/14-Day Movement Practice

Introduction to the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education

This course serves as continuing education for physical and occupational therapists. It is approved for CEUs by the Virginia Physical Therapy Association. It can be taken as an online course only, or with an additional optional in-person workshop to apply the skills you’ve mastered provided there is no threat from the pandemic or other health crisis.

Introduction to the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education covers how to improve patient care and treatment outcomes by applying the Feldenkrais Method’s innovative motor learning strategies to traditional physical therapy protocols.

During this course you will have an opportunity to experience the beneficial effects of the Feldenkrais Method firsthand through an Awareness Through Movement Lesson and then observe the effect on patients by observing a session.

You will learn:

  • How to use yourself better to prevent any repetitive injuries
  • New skills you can apply to your patients’ treatments right away
  • The very latest research on neuroplasticity and its application in motor learning

Introduction to Hippotherapy

Category: PT Continuing Education

This course serves as continuing education for physical and occupational therapists. It is approved for CEUs by the Virginia Physical Therapy Association. An Introduction to Hippotherapy provides you with an overview of hippotherapy and its basic principles as they apply to rehabilitation. Supporting research and findings will be covered.

This course provides you with the information you will need to decide when it would be most appropriate to refer patients to a physical therapist who is specifically trained in the use of equine movement.

You will have the opportunity to experience the effects of the movement of the horse on the person astride in an optional one-day, in-person workshop once you have completed the online portion of the course.

Introduction to Hippotherapy will provide you with one more effective tool you can use in your practice.
